Premier League May Halt Tevez Switch

Carlos Tevez seems set to depart the Upton Park club, most likely for Old Trafford. However, the Premier League is yet to have its say. The organisation has now confirmed that it will be scrutinising the deal very closely to ensure that any transfer fee goes to West Ham United in accordance with its rules. Should it not, Tevez is going nowhere.

Manchester United are favourite to land Argentinian dynamo Carlos Tevez from West Ham United, with the player himself apparently being keen on the move. However, it is not quite yet set in stone.

The Premier League have confirmed that they will be monitoring the situation to ensure that West Ham, who claim to fully own the player, receive the agreed transfer fee, rather than it going to third parties.

The Hammers claim they have owned the player's registration since April when Kia Joorabchian, Tevez's controversial agent, apparently found himself out of the contractual picture following a Premiership investigation into West Ham's Argentinian contingent.
In order to verify that West Ham have acted correctly and honestly, the League will ensure that they are able to process his transfer and receive the fee.

A spokesperson for the League said, "As far as we are concerned any deal to take Carlos Tevez away from West Ham has to be done directly with the club."

Tevez sprang into form after a somewhat slow start to his Hammers career, eventually managing seven goals in 26 league appearances for the Boleyn Ground side. Due to irregularities with the status of himself and fellow Argentine Javier Mascherano, West Ham United were fined £5.5m in April but managed to survive in the Premiership.
