Sven To Land £6m Ljungberg - Report

According to The Sun, Sven-Goran Eriksson is close to completing a £6million swoop for Arsenal's Freddie Ljungberg.

Ljungberg has been linked extensively with both Manchester City and Fiorentina over the last few weeks, though the Florence club had taken the lead of late.

However, new City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson, who had gone cold after Arsenal declared their interest in keeping him, has now stepped up his efforts in order to bring his compatriot to the Eastlands club.

The Sun claim that "the player was this week told by Arsene Wenger his first-team chances would be limited, and he could talk to other clubs."

According to the report, Fiorentina have already offered Arsenal £5.5m (8m euros), but City are set to trump them with a Arsenal £6m bid.

Backed by a £50m transfer war-chest, Eriksson is moving quickly to strengthen his team for next season, and is also close to signing Reggina striker Rolando Bianchi for approximately £9m.
