Madrid set to make final offer for Robben

After completing the signings of Wesley Sneijder and Drenthe Madrid are set to complete a trio of Dutch signings by making a final offer for Arjen Robben to Chelsea.

The long-running saga could finally be concluded this week as the Blues are due to meet with Madrid to hammer out a transfer fee for the wantaway winger.

While Chelsea have stated that they want €40m, los Merengues are not willing to go higher than €30m for a player who they believe will not be first-choice at Stamford Bridge.

Madrid also believe that the capture of Sneijder and Drenthe will have put pressure on the Premiership outfit to play ball as they face being left with an unsettled player on their hands.

During the presentation of the two new signings Calderon stated that 'Robben is the signing that Schuster is missing and we are going to deliver it to him very soon'

Negotiations have been tough, but they have been able to continue thanks to the friendship between Chelsea's Peter Kenyon and Madrid's director general, José Ángel Sánchez.

Madird are hoping that Roman Abramovich will sanction the sale as he has clearly seen that Robben will not feature much this term after the arrival of Florent Malouda.

Personally I haven't been impressed by Madrid's pre-season performance and as a hardcore Madridista fan I hope Real will complete Robben's signing. He cannot replace Beckham but he might be able to give Madrid the extra width they have been lacking for the last few years.
