Klose And Toni As Good As Müller and Hoeneß?

Bayern manager Uli Hoeneß has hit out at doubts as to whether Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni can actually work together; by saying they could become the best strike partnership in Bayern’s history.

“I really don’t understand this constant doubt about Miro’s ability” Hoeneß said.

“There is absolutely no discussion as to whether Klose and Toni are suited. We now have two top quality strikers. Miro runs lots, can play down the left or right, and will set-up goals for Luca as well.

“With Toni and Makaay we would have been too predictable.”

When asked whether Bayern had ever had such a good partnership up front, he immediately replied, “Müller and Hoeneß”.

Together with Gerd Müller, the Bayern manager won the European Cup three times in a row in the 1970’s and he feels Klose and Toni could be just as successful.

Hoeneß also believes Klose will be able to cope with the pressure at the Allianz Arena.

“Miro will grow under the pressure here. He will step up to the next level, like he did when moving from Kaiserslautern to Bremen.

"He has not come here to be third or fourth. He could have done that in Bremen.
