Liverpool Seal Torres Deal - Report

Atletico Madrid have reportedly agreed terms with Liverpool over the transfer of Fernando Torres.

Telemadrid have claimed that an agreement has finally been reached over the transfer of the promising Atletico Madrid striker.

Liverpool will hand Luis Garcia and 32 million euros over to Atletico Madrid, the deal being worth close to the 40 million clause Torres has written into his contract.

Atletico Madrid are also insisting on a right to first refusal should the Reds decide to sell him later on, which needs to be sorted out.

All that will remain then will for the player to give his nod to the contract being offered.

The report does come as a surprise, as only this morning, Atletico Madrid had insisted that there was nothing to the rumours, following massive protests from fans yesterday.

Marca are currently reporting that while the two parties are negotiating, and that a final deal has not been struck yet. Meanwhile, AS are reporting that Atleti want to ensure that they have first refusal before they let him go.

Only a few hours ago, Rafa Benitez had been uncertain, saying: "All I can say is that Fernando Torres is one of the players we have looked at. We are working on this all the time."

However, with almost all media outlets in Spain getting warm on this, there seems to have been a major development since. Watch this space...
