Madrid Hope To Wrap Up Robben Deal

Real Madrid are confident that they can complete a deal to sign Arjen Robben and present the Dutchman as a new player at the Bernabéu next week

The Spanish giants' interest in the Blues' winger has been no secret and president Ramón Calderón wants to continue the rebuilding process at the club.Robben was one of three players that Calderón promised to bring in during his election campaign last summer, along with Kaká and Cesc Fàbregas.None of the trio arrived, but Madrid struggled to their first Spanish league title in four years before axing Fabio Capello for not producing an entertaining side.

New coach, Bernd Schuster, has authorised a complete makeover of the squad and is also keen on completing a move for Robben, according to Marca.Chelsea have already covered the former PSV star's position with the capture of Florent Malouda from Lyon and are ready to do busines at €20m.Madrid are said to have already opened negotiations with the Premiership outfit and a deal is set to be completed early next week.

The report believes that Chelsea will use the money to make an approach for Sevilla's Daniel Alves. While eight players have left Madrid, including Raúl Bravo, Roberto Carlos and David Beckham, the club have already signed four new faces.Christoph Metzelder arrived on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund, Javier Saviola cost nothing from FC Barcelona, Jerzy Dudek has come from Liverpool and Pepe was signed from Porto for €30m.
