Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will play against Chelsea on Sunday despite suffering from a fractured toe.
he midfielder limped of during The Reds' Champions League third qualifying round fixture at Toulouse yesterday afternoon.
The initial fear was that Gerrard had ‘done a Rooney’ and damaged a metatarsal, an injury that would have ruled out the influential skipper for at least six weeks.
But after the game it emerged that the player was feeling tenderness in his toe, prompting Liverpool medics to send him for a scan.
The results of the scans show that Gerrard has suffered a hairline fracture in his toe and will be sidelined for a week or two.
But the 27-year-old will be patched up for Sunday’s Premiership encounter with Chelsea, receiving a pain-killing injection
