Milan Beat Lokomotiv On Penalties After Thriller

Milan beat Lokomotiv Moscow 5-4 on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw.

In an entertaining encounter in Moscow, European champions Milan fought back from two goals down against Lokomotiv Moscow to draw 3-3 and eventually win the game on penalties. With the final of the Russian Railways Tournament being played between Real Madrid and PSV, Milan win third place.

Milan opted for a 4-4-1-1 formation with Serginho and Gourcuff on the wings and Kaká up front in support of lone striker Aubameyang.

On the first dangerous move, Milan defender Simic headed a cross by Odemwingie past his own goalkeeper (17'). In the 22nd minute Kaká tied the score again after an individual move, aided by midfielder Brocchi.

A few minutes later goalkeeper Kalac suffered an injury and had to leave his place to Dida. Aubameyang had a decent chance in the 27th minute, but Italian goalkeeper Pelizzoli made a good save in the Lokomotiv goal.

On the half hour mark the home team took the lead again thanks to an acrobatic move by Ivanovic (29'). With Aubameyang wasting another chance soon after that, Odemwingie made it 3-1 in the 42nd minute after dribbling past Dida.

In the second half Ancelotti took out Serginho and Kaká for Jankulovski and Seedorf. But things did not change much as Milan were unable to take control of the game.

For the final part of the game also Pirlo, Oddo, and Nesta came in, who would later turn out to be useful for the penalties.

In the 85th minute the home side had a great chance to make it 4-1, but Bilyaletdinov's shot was cleared off the line by Bonera. Lokomotiv were made to pay for this miss in the final minutes, as Seedorf made it 3-2 on an assist from Jankulovski in the 88th minute, and Brocchi tied the game in injury time after another good move by the Czech full back.

The game thus went to penalties and it was Milan who triumphed, with Oddo, Jankulovski, Pirlo, Nesta and Brocchi all scoring for the Rossoneri, and Dida saving the fourth penalty in the series, from Kontsaledov. Maminov, Korchagin, Ivanovic, and Asatiani were the goalscorers for Lokomotiv.
